1. HVAC Specialist
Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is a field that uses various technologies to control temperature, humidity, and air quality in enclosed spaces, ensuring thermal comfort and proper indoor air quality. HVAC system design is based on mechanical engineering principles such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
Responsibilities:
- Design, install, and maintain HVAC systems onboard ships.
- Ensure temperature regulation, air quality control, and thermal comfort.
- Collaborate with engineers and other specialists for smooth system integration.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Qualifications:
- Experience in HVAC systems is an asset, but motivated beginners can receive training.
- Understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or mechanical engineering is helpful.
2. Pipe Fitter
A Pipe Fitter is responsible for the installation, assembly, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of mechanical piping systems, which are crucial for ship operations.
Responsibilities:
- Install and assemble piping systems for shipbuilding and repair projects.
- Conduct maintenance and repair work as needed.
- Work with mechanical systems, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
Qualifications:
- Experience with piping systems is preferred, but training is available for individuals new to the trade.
- Mechanical knowledge and problem-solving skills are a plus.
3. Insulator
The Insulator specializes in installing Armaflex insulation, as well as heat and fire insulation for thin ducts, ensuring safety and thermal efficiency in various ship areas.
Responsibilities:
- Install thermal and fire insulation for ducts and pipes.
- Ensure proper insulation for energy efficiency and fire safety.
- Work with materials like Armaflex, ensuring installations meet safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience with insulation systems is an advantage, but training is provided for those eager to learn.
- Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently with specialized insulation materials.
4. Painter
The Painter specializes in the preparation and finishing of interior and exterior surfaces, ensuring ships are properly sanded, filled, and painted to high standards.
Responsibilities:
- Sand, fill, and paint various surfaces on the ship’s interior and exterior.
- Ensure high-quality finishing and compliance with design specifications.
- Work with other specialists to ensure that painting aligns with overall project timelines.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in painting and surface preparation is a bonus, but training is available for those new to the profession.
- Precision and attention to detail are key qualities.
5. Interior Specialist
The Interior Specialist handles all aspects of domestic and commercial building, decoration, renovation, and property maintenance within the shipbuilding environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform decoration, renovation, and property maintenance tasks in various ship areas.
- Ensure that interiors are up to commercial standards, providing comfort and style.
- Work with other team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
Qualifications:
- Experience in building, renovation, or interior design is ideal but not mandatory.
- Creative problem-solving and attention to detail are important for success.
